Terrestrial Biologist/Ecologist

LGL is accepting applications for the position of mid-level terrestrial biologist/ecologist in our Sidney, B.C. office. LGL conducts research and environmental assessments for a wide variety of clients in Canada, the U.S.A., and elsewhere. The successful candidate will work as a member of our existing office-based teams to fulfill existing and upcoming project obligations. This is a full-time position with fieldwork (travel) requirements.

Qualifications & Experience: The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate abilities and experience consistent with the following minimum requirements:

  • holds an MSc (or equivalent; candidates lacking an MSc but with strong, proven field skills will be considered)
  • R.P.Bio certification (or eligibility to obtain designation)
  • has experience as a consulting biologist
  • has a solid working knowledge of the taxonomy and ecology of the terrestrial flora and fauna of B.C.
  • is willing to travel to and work in remote areas
  • works effectively alone and as part of a team
  • capable of effective written and oral communications

The successful candidate will have relevant experience:

  • working as part of a field crew
  • working outdoors in the terrestrial environments of B.C. and/or Alberta
  • completing terrestrial inventory projects to RISC Standards
  • assisting with the writing of proposals and reports (including data analysis)
  • working with a variety of field and office equipment
