Capsule Resume

Christopher Burns is a Senior Fisheries Biologist with a diversity of experience in aquatic ecology and fisheries management. Christopher has developed and implemented numerous aquatic effects monitoring studies throughout Canada and internationally, with an emphasis on metal mining and hydropower generation. He has developed and implemented multiple instream flow studies to assess flow alterations on fish and aquatic productivity. Working with multidisciplinary teams, he modelled the effect of flow alterations using SEFA (System for Environmental Flow Analysis) software. Christopher has provided senior review and participated on fisheries committees for multiple large scale industrial environmental assessments throughout western and northern Canada. Christopher has been actively involved in fisheries stock assessment and management studies throughout his career. He has designed and implemented studies for recreational creels, lake and stream index population surveys, mark recapture population assessments, Arctic Grayling and Arctic Char migration and population assessments, stable isotope and diet analysis, Pacific salmonid escapement enumeration, snorkel surveys and redd assessments, acoustic habitat mapping and population assessment and acoustic movement tracking.
