Joseph Cavallo, Hons. B.Sc. and post-graduate GIS Certificate, senior fisheries biologist, has over 20 years' experience in environmental consulting with LGL Limited. Prior to joining LGL, Joseph had worked with Conservation Authorities throughout southern Ontario, dealing mainly with aquatic habitat assessment and remediation. With LGL Limited, he has contributed field and mapping support to numerous site feasibility assessments, subwatershed-level assessments, environmental impact studies, natural heritage inventories at a municipal and watershed scale, and a variety of transportation planning and design projects. Joseph has extensive experience with the life science of southern Ontario fishes including cold, cool, and warm water species, as well as rare species such as Redside Dace (Clinostomus elongatus). He has successfully secured federal Fisheries Act and provincial Endangered Species Act (Section 17(2)(b) and 17(2)(c) permits related to Redside Dace habitat creation. He has particular expertise in the design and restoration of stream habitat impacted by human or natural disturbances. He is also involved in the management of GIS services to these projects using software which includes AutoCAD, MapInfo, ArcView, and supporting digital imaging software.

Joseph has been qualified as a Fisheries Assessment Specialist under the Fisheries Specialty in the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Registry Appraisal and Qualification System (RAQS), has participated in the ROM freshwater fishes ID workshop, the DFO freshwater mussel ID workshop, has attended numerous sediment and erosion control workshops, has been certified as an electrofishing crew leader, and has participated in the Robert Newbury Natural Channel Design Course in Kelowna, B.C.
