Robin joined LGL in 1992 after completing the Advanced Diploma Program in GIS with honours at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Mr. Tamasi's other relevant experience includes 13 years surveying and mapping experience as a hydrographer with the Canadian Hydrographic Service and 10 years of experience as a programmer/analyst in the same field. As a member of various study teams at LGL, provides support and programming for GIS capabilities. Including: translation and input of digital data, control, projection and georeferencing of data, translation of GPS data, vector and raster map processing, satellite imagery manipulation, thematic mapping, complex cartography and publication-quality map output, image scanning, rectification and manipulation, ArcGIS programming, using applications such as ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, ARC/INFO, MapInfo, CorelDraw, Visual Foxpro, and PhotoShop. Provides hardware, software, network and Internet support for both Macintosh and PC.
Examples of typical projects include: terrain and map computations, analysis, and preparation of maps in support of dozens of watershed restoration projects; preparation of a digital elevation model of the marine waters of British Columbia to the 200-mile limit; preparation of maps of aquatic habitats overlaid on an air photo mosaic in relation to a proposed subdivision development in St. John's, NF; wildlife capability mapping of moose and grizzly bear in the Nass River Valley, BC; mapping of GPS tracking data of radio-tagged salmon in the Columbia River, WA; preparation of summary maps in support of a 5-year environmental review of OCS leases in Alaska.
