LGL’s Ontario business group began more than 25 years ago to serve the Ontario market, primarily related to land and infrastructure development and natural resource management.
About the Role
As a Junior Environmental Planner, you will support LGL’s environmental planning team in the preparation of high quality environmental assessments for infrastructure, land development, and transportation projects. This full time position is based at LGL’s King City office and is well-suited for early-career professionals who have demonstrated a keen interest in environmental assessment and a strong academic background in environmental planning or environmental studies.
Working as part of a collaborative team that includes environmental planners, biologists, and geographic information systems specialists, you will contribute to technical documentation, regulatory research, and consultation programs. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a willingness to work onsite with a multidisciplinary team.
What You Will Do
- Assist in the environmental assessment process and related reports for infrastructure and development projects
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of consultation programs involving external agencies, Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and the public
- Support the interpretation and application of environmental legislation, such as the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and the Canadian Impact Assessment Act
- Conduct background research and contribute to technical writing for environmental assessments and planning studies
- Assist with the coordination of project timelines and deliverables
- Participate in internal project meetings and external consultation sessions
- Support the preparation of permit or approval applications, as needed
- Contribute to occasional field investigations that support environmental planning work

What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, or a closely related field
- Familiarity with environmental assessment processes in Ontario or Canada, including class environmental assessments
- Demonstrated interest in environmental planning through coursework and academic projects; previous relevant work experience is strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to contribute to technical reports and consultation materials
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Valid driver’s licence
- Eligible to work in Canada
