As a Natural Heritage Planner based out of Peterborough, Ontario and LGL’s King City office, Sarah Bale has a deep and well‑rounded background in environmental and land use planning with experience spanning provincial government, municipal planning, consulting, program coordination, and research. Her academic foundation includes a Master of Environmental Studies in Planning (York), a Master of Science in Applied Modelling and Quantitative Methods (Trent), and a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science (UBC).
Sarah joined LGL in 2025 from her previous role at the ON Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) where she was a Regional Planner leading reviews of Environmental Assessments, municipal Official Plans, Special Policy Areas, Water Management Plans, and federal Impact Assessment Act processes. Before her time with MNR, Sarah spent several years in consulting supporting municipalities, private landowners, and community groups with a focus on participatory watershed planning, natural heritage, natural hazards, aggregates, and municipal land use policy development. Prior to her role as a consultant, Sarah worked as a program coordinator for various environmental NGOs with a particular focus in engaging with Indigenous communities, and as a research technician at the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries in Vancouver, BC.
Sarah is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and is certified in Ecological Land Classification (ELC) and Wildlife Field Survey Techniques.
