Rolph A. Davis, Ph.D., obtained his doctorate in Avian Ecology from the University of Western Ontario in 1972 and joined LGL Limited in that year. He has served as President and CEO of LGL Limited, as well as Chairman of the Board. Dr. Davis has supervised and conducted many of LGL's major projects on arctic birds and marine mammals, and has managed many large, multi-disciplinary studies, often involving complex study designs in logistically difficult arctic marine and terrestrial locations. One of his special areas of expertise is bird hazard to aircraft issues. He has conducted a wide variety of studies of gulls, landfills, and airports for both landfill developers (in the private and municipal sectors) and for airports and federal regulatory agencies, such as Transport Canada and Department of National Defence. Dr. Davis has appeared as an expert witness before numerous regulatory bodies and tribunals. In 2019, he received the Bird Strike Association of Canada’s Bruce Mackinnon Memorial Award for lifetime achievement.
