Sowel Kang is an environmental planner for municipal, provincial, and federal infrastructure projects. She has experience conducting environmental assessment studies for transportation projects following the Ontario Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (MTO 2000), Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MEA 2000, amended 2011), Transit Project Assessment Process as per the Transit Projects and Metrolinx Undertakings, O.Reg 231/08 (2008), and has been involved in federal environmental assessment screenings under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. Her responsibilities include coordination of environmental technical studies associated with each environmental assessment study and consultations with the technical review agencies. Sowel’s contributions include social sciences inventory, conducting public, government agency and Indigenous communities’ consultation, conducting land use assessments, permit and approval procurement, and environmental documentation preparation.
