Lara Miles joined LGL Limited as a Senior Biologist in February 2024. Her M.Sc. research focused on the distribution and habitat preferences of cold-water corals and the surficial geology of the Flemish Cap, offshore Newfoundland. She has more than 15 years of experience working in marine environments and is adept at developing and executing comprehensive environmental monitoring programs and habitat surveys. With extensive experience at sea, Lara has undertaken extended field-based ecological research surveys during numerous expeditions spanning the North Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and Mediterranean Sea. She has designed, implemented, analyzed, and reported on several benthic surveys for fish and fish habitats using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Her expertise extends to the development and execution of ROV, AUV, and tow‑camera benthic surveys in key marine regions, including the Flemish Pass/Cap, Laurentian Channel, Bay of Fundy, Frobisher Bay, and Lancaster Sound. Lara’s current and recent projects include environmental impact assessments, environmental effects monitoring, benthic habitat surveys, and monitoring during geophysical exploration for a variety of clients.
