Melanie Moore is a Biologist/Ecologist specializing in terrestrial ecology, wildlife monitoring, and mitigation programs. She completed her Diploma in Fish, Wildlife, and Recreation Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and has experience working with amphibians, reptiles, birds, bats, fish, bears, and small mammals, with a particular focus on herpetology. Melanie has led and contributed to wildlife and environmental initiatives across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and the Northwest Territories, including species-at-risk monitoring, habitat assessments, habitat restoration, and Indigenous‑led wildlife monitoring programs. Through her work with LGL Limited, Melanie has led Canadian Toad mitigation programs in Alberta’s Oil Sands, directing field crews in habitat suitability assessments, salvage and translocation efforts, radio telemetry, amphibian disease testing, exclusion-fence installation, and evaluations of breeding and overwintering habitat. She also contributes to long-term wildlife monitoring programs through the deployment and maintenance of wildlife cameras and autonomous recording units (ARUs), bat monitoring projects, and small mammal surveys. Melanie provides technical advice to Indigenous Nations on wildlife projects and environmental assessments, including reviews of potential impacts to fish, wildlife, vegetation, and Indigenous values associated with proposed developments. She also contributes to Indigenous-led stewardship and land use planning initiatives. Melanie is a Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) under the College of Applied Biologists in British Columbia.
