Rachel Palmer completed her B.Sc. (2021) at BCIT. She has worked on wetland restoration and stock assessment activities for salmonids. Since joining LGL in June 2022, Rachel has worked with Sockeye, Coho, and Chinook salmon and Steelhead and Bull Trout in northwestern BC. She works on the Meziadin River with the Nisga'a Nation and Gitanyow Nation on stock assessment and mark-recapture activities, using live sampling methods. She has also worked aboard test fisheries vessels on the lower Fraser River, collecting data to assist in the conservation and management of Sockeye Salmon stocks.

Rachel combines her knowledge of fisheries ecology and passion for animal welfare with a view to responsible stewardship of aquatic ecosystems while working in close cooperation with local communities along the British Columbia coast.
