Sarah Penney-Belbin became involved with marine research in 2004, working on plankton identification studies in Norris Point, Newfoundland. Since then, her work has included an inventory and creation of an identification key for benthic organisms from Terra Nova National Park, Newfoundland, and the novel application of quantitative fatty acid signature analysis to carry out dietary ecological studies of lean and fatty marine fish. Sarah has also served as a teaching assistant for biology and ecology courses, a supplemental instructor for introductory chemistry, an interpreter for marine touch tanks, and a trainer for a wide variety of techniques within the laboratory. Sarah is adept with the use of computers and is skilled in a variety of statistical and graphical software, having managed large databases throughout her studies. Since joining LGL Limited, Sarah has been involved in the collection of seawater and marine sediments, the identification of plankton, the deployment of benthic settlement collectors, sediment traps, and mussel moorings.
