Dr. Florian Reurink is a wildlife biologist with extensive experience in wildlife ecology, conservation, environmental assessment, and ecosystem restoration. He holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in nature conservation and wildlife biology and has contributed to research, consulting, and regulatory work in both Canada and Europe. His background includes leading avian radar and acoustic studies for wind energy development, post-construction monitoring, and the development of technical reports and standard operating procedures.

Florian has worked as both a consultant and a government ecological adviser, gaining deep knowledge of environmental legislation, impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In his regulatory role, he led and reviewed environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure projects, provided ecological guidance to clients, and provided ecological advice in formal proceedings.

In addition to his professional work, Florian has volunteered widely in conservation initiatives, contributing to conservation of birds and amphibian. He is also founder of the BC Marsh Monitoring Program, which is a collaborative effort between WildResearch and Birds Canada. His strongest assets include advanced technical knowledge of species and ecosystems, a structured and analytical approach to problem-solving, and strong organizational and communication skills. He is a Professional Biologist (P.Biol.) under the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists with a well-rounded, global perspective on ecological management.
