Steven Roias has expressed a passion in natural history, particularly in fishes and birds since childhood. Prior to joining LGL, his profession included over 8 years involvement with B.C. and global commercial fisheries monitoring programs, near shore species inventories, marine and coastal bird surveys, and an array of marine environmental assessments and habitat classification. He has worked cooperatively with First Nations in British Columbia, including: Haisla, Tsimshian, Nisga’a and Wet’suwet’en. Steven has extensive experience with fish identification, both in marine and freshwater systems throughout the world. Since joining LGL in 2014, Steven has conducted field studies pertaining to fish stream habitat assessments and nearshore juvenile salmonid surveys.

Outside of the office, Steven is involved with several community volunteer services including coordinating and presenting natural history information to the staff and public at the Royal BC Museum.
