Rachel Sechrist has a strong background in fisheries science and management, environmental science, and animal biology and evolution. Field work is what she finds most enjoyable about her career, and excels in hands-on work with fish and wildlife, whether on a boat or on land. Rachel is an experienced boat operator and has knowledge of Pacific Northwest fisheries systems. Her interests lie predominantly in exploring ecological interactions and working to maintain sustainable human−fisheries relationships. She is also experienced in using both passive and acoustic tagging to track large scale fish migrations and behavior. Prior to LGL, she worked on a shark research/tagging vessel out of Long Island, N.Y. Her Master’s thesis focused on shark physiology and shark-offshore wind interactions. She is proficient conducting spatial and statistical analysis in GIS and R.
