Madison Stein has supported numerous projects including the characterization of bycatch in the Louisiana menhaden purse seine fishery, evaluation of the effectiveness of marine protected areas for fish spawning in the Southeastern U.S., monitoring of catch and discards of the multi-passenger and headboat/charter fleet in the Gulf, and installation of vessel tracking systems for the Gulf shrimp fishery. Madison has experience in oceanographic data collection for water quality assessment, fish and invertebrate identification, histological sample collection (otoliths and gonads), and underwater video analysis. She also has experience communicating with members of the commercial fishing industry, recreational fishermen, other scientists, and the general public.
