Kyle Swanson is an Ecologist with extensive experience in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. His background includes a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Environmental Studies and a Graduate Diploma in GIS and Geospatial Management. His expertise spans long-term ecological monitoring, fisheries and benthic macroinvertebrate surveys, bird and herpetofauna monitoring, aquatic habitat assessments, and geomorphology. Kyle is a certified taxonomist in benthic invertebrates and has advanced species identification skills across fish, birds, and herpetofauna.

His work supports natural heritage assessments, compliance monitoring for restoration and development projects, and baseline environmental studies. He is also experienced in spatial and quantitative data analysis, contributing to science-based decision-making across diverse landscapes. Kyle has held roles in conservation organizations and brings a strong foundation in field-based research, having processed thousands of biological specimens and contributed to large-scale environmental monitoring initiatives.

Kyle is trained in ROM Fish Identification, Class 2 Backpack Electrofishing, the Ontario Benthic-macroinvertebrate Biomonitoring Network (OBBN), Ontario Nature’s Long-Term Snake Monitoring Protocol, and the Great Lakes Marsh Monitoring program. Beyond his technical expertise, he is a dedicated naturalist and wildlife photographer, driven by a deep connection to the land and its biodiversity.
