Tian Yan is a landscape designer specializing in landscape architecture, urban design, and agriculture science. Tian has contributed to professional projects involving public, private, and academic institutions. Her work includes ecological restoration, streetscapes, neighbourhood development, public parks, campus and urban landscape design, regional planning studies, and master-planning concept design. Tian’s education and professional experience have been gained in Canada, the United States, and China. Through her work, Tian seeks balance in anthropogenic landscapes and their transformation towards synergetic and resilient systems. Tian’s master’s thesis investigated innovative design approaches to riparian landscapes in an environment where urbanism, ecological degradation, and local cultural loss intersected. That work won an American Society of Landscape Architects Analysis and Planning Honor Award.
